shorter corridors of less time

leaving my phone in a drawer all of the time

i have my phone plugged in in a drawer of my desk and use the following as substitutes:

1) windows phone link for texting — works well both long-distance and short-distance. would love to switch to linux mint full-time (currently dual boot) but i have not gotten KDE Connect working remotely and am not sure i can. but it can handle texts just fine.

2) boox palma for books/maps/music — one of my favorite little gadgets, a phone-sized ereader with an e-ink screen and android. no cell service so it can’t do real-time navigation or streaming music in the car or anything like that but i have syncthing set up such that, while i’m home, i can just download music/podcasts/whatever to my laptop, put them in the synced folder, and then it automatically downloads them on the palma. pocket casts will also download podcasts for offline use. i use poweramp for music

3) shitty little alarm clock - i love it

4) at&t cordless phone — not going to look up the exact model because nobody reads this but it was $40 and it connects to my phone via bluetooth so when someone calls it rings and i pick it up and talk like it’s a landline

5) hp printer — sometimes i print out directions instead of looking them up on my palma. i am slowly collecting a little binder’s worth of directions to and from places i go often
